“We’re really pleased with the rate of our growth and our latest funding round is another milestone that proves our long term viability, and the need for :Different to rebuild property management in Australia,” she said.
“Property management hasn’t changed in decades. We see huge potential to improve the property experience through tech but it needs to be tightly integrated into everyday operations.”
The company will use the fresh funding to hire more tech talent and continue its product development.
PieLAB investment director Richard Anderson said he came across the company 18 months ago and was impressed by the background of the founders.
“We followed the company’s progress and kept in touch over the following months. [They] invited us to participate in the recent capital raise about 16 months after we met them. By this point, the company had gained significant traction in the market and the technology platform had developed in leaps and bounds,” he said.
The company will launch in Brisbane on Tuesday. Eventually, it would like to be a global platform, but Ms Radhakrishnan said it would not rush offshore.
Now a team of 32, the business intends to double its team in the next 12 months.
Ms Radhakrishnan, who was one of the first 20 employees at Uber, recognised that competition in the sector was intense, with the leaders being large incumbents.
“We’re committed to fixing the biggest challenge others are not willing to – building a fundamentally better technology-enabled consumer experience,” she said.
